As winter comes to a close and we welcome spring, students and staff at P.S./I.S. 121 have been immersed in school life. Right before the midwinter recess our friends from the Brooklyn Public Library visited P.S./I.S. 121 with their bookmobile, fun crafts and story time activities. P.S./I.S. 121 students signed up for library cards and checked out books to read at home. During Respect For All Week, we participated in daily activities and events including Twin Day, Comfy Cozy, Kindness "Ties" Us Together, Superhero Day (be a hero for inclusion and wear superhero gear), and Valen-kinds Day. These events and activities promote acceptance, understanding, and teach students how to become thoughtful and caring individuals. P.S./I.S. 121 is committed to promoting respect for diversity, fostering inclusive learning environments for all students, and ensuring that everyone feels safe!
P.S./I.S. 121 is encouraging a 100% completion rate for the 2025 NYC School Survey. Laminated thermometers were provided to each classroom to promote and track class progress. Everyone's voice matters and the feedback is important! The Rock Band took a trip to Industry City, and P.S./I.S. 121 celebrated the 100th day of school too.
Students and staff at P.S./I.S. 121 took part in Read Across America Week from March 3rd, 2025, to March 7th, 2025. There were daily themes and activities including: Story Book Character Day, Idiom Day, Wacky Wednesday, Oh The Places You'll Go, and Reading Buddies. On idiom day, students and staff were encouraged to dress up as their favorite idiom and join in a parade. Students and staff dressed in mismatched, inside out and backwards clothing on Wacky Wednesday. On reading buddies' day, students in 5th through 8th grades visited students in kindergarten through 4th grade classrooms to read books to them. Learning is always fun and engaging at P.S./I.S. 121!
